Tech Superpowers recently underwent an internal "green audit," where we reviewed what more we could be doing to help reduce our impact on the environment. The good news? Every bit we've done also has reduced our operational costs. The bad news? There's more that we can do.
Two years ago, we put in Programmable Thermostats, Energy Saving Bulbs, and even ultra-low energy use LED bulbs. (Note: don't use those bulbs for places where you need to make decisions about color.)
Last year, we began our in-house recycling program in conjunction with Save That Stuff, a Boston-based company that helps companies recycle paper and containers. Additionally, we participated in the MBTA's Corporate Pass Program, which makes it easier for our employees to take public transport to work (in fact 60% do).
This year, we've decided to take the extra step - to make a dent in our carbon footprint. Not only are we trying to reduce the need for us to travel to clients by releasing services like Managed Macs, but we're also starting a program to offset our carbon footprint in our Zero Carbon initiative.
In fact, in our new UK location, we don't even have a car (Gasp!). We use London's extensive Tube system and ZipCar's car sharing program for transport throughout the city.
Read on to see what else we can do for you to help reduce your impact on the environment - without even having to get up from your chair.
